Cloud Engineer (GO, Python or Java)

Position Summary:

• As a member of our Cloud Portal & Software Controls (PiSCes) team, develop API-driven automation within AWS using Golang, Java, and other object-oriented languages.
• Strong focus on development and implementation of RESTful APIs.
• Experience and passion for deployment automation using tools such as CloudFormation or Terraform. Contribute to development on tenant secure frameworks and other projects as assigned.
• Work with and utilize public cloud services (AWS) to develop and deploy applications and automation.
• Perform user story writing and grooming.
• Participate in code peer reviews, sprint demos and retrospectives, and creation of technical documentation.

Responsibilities:

• Build API-driven automation within AWS for tenant security frameworks.
• Strong technical expertise and troubleshooting skills for large scale enterprise systems and software.
• Build solid, testable, and observable software solutions.
• Support cradle-to-grave development and support of software applications.
• Implement end-to-end CI/CD solutions for new and existing applications using Jenkins,
• Concourse, or other tools.
• Instrument new and existing applications for observability and monitoring.
• Evaluate new and emerging technologies for implementation.
• Contribute to and respond to peer code reviews as needed
• Displays knowledge of engineering methodologies, concepts, skills, and their application in the area of specified engineering specialty.
• Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.

Requirements:

• Experience with Golang, Python or Java.
• Strong background working with AWS; EC2, VPC, Lambda, SNS, SQS, and Automation like CloudFormation or Terraform.
• Knowledge of general TCP/IP and HTTP networking as well as background with AWS-specific networking.
• Experience developing and consuming RESTful APIs.
• Proficient in Object Oriented concepts and patterns
• Understanding concepts of multi-threading, cache, memory management
• Comfortable with UNIX-like operating systems
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and able to work as part of cross-functional teams.

Nice to Have (Not Required):

• Experience with automation tools such as CloudFormation and Terraform.
• Comfortable with UNIX-like operating systems
• Ability to identify / resolve system bottlenecks
• Knowledge of Client/Server architecture and RESTful Web Services
