Our work depends on a Python Developer joining our team to support the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services activities at Woodlawn, Maryland. As a Python Developer supporting the Eligibility Appeals Operations Support Project (EAOS), you will be trusted to work on an application thatinteracts with enterprise SQL Server databases and RESTful web services using JSON. Development may be done in both Windows and Linux environments using Python. In this role, a typical day will include:Collaborating with our prime contractor to enhance and maintain the Eligibility Appeals Operations Support application.Building large Python applications containing multiple modules and packagesDesigning, writing, and executing Python unit tests using the unittest and pytest libraries.Using Python to connect, update data, and run stored procedures on enterprise databases such as SQL Server or Oracle.Workingon a team in an Agile environment to improve and maintain our application.What Youll Need:Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university preferred, equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of degree.Minimum of 5 years of experience with building Python applications in team environments.Experience building large Python applications containing multiple modules and packages.Experience designing, writing, and executing Python unit tests using the unittest and pytest libraries.Experience using Python to connect, update data, and run stored procedures on enterprise databases such as SQL Server or Oracle.Basic familiarity with the Linux command line and tools.Experience with Regular Expressions.Experience or familiarity with Perl, bash, and shell scripting.Experience with GitHub, Jenkins, and Nexus.Ability to follow processes, procedures, and guidelines to ensure repeatable customer experiences.Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Position.Ability to work in the United States without sponsorship.Have resided in the United States for 3 out of the prior 5 years.Preferred Qualifications:Expertise in building automated ETL pipelines/workflows in Python-based environment (e.g. Apache Airflow or Prefect).Experience using Python to interact with web services using a RESTful API and JSON.Experience with PyCharm, Git, and Atlassian JIRA.Experience with AWS services.Demonstrated experience developing and deploying serverless software in a cloud environment.Demonstrated experience with AWS CI/CD services such as CodeDeploy, CodeCommit, and CodePipeline.Experience working in an Agile environment for multiple years.Government experience -CMS (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services) .Attributes for Success:Good oral and written communication skills.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.What GDIT Can Offer You:Full-flex work week.401K with company match.Challenging work that makes a real impact on the world around you.Diverse, highly collaborative teams.
