Jump Trading's risk team manages the moment-to-moment trading and operational risk for all trading teams and is responsible for evaluating new trading strategies, markets and products. Furthermore, the risk team is responsible for working with Core Development and Technology teams to advance the firm's internal risk layer, metrics, and reporting. What You'll Do: As a Risk Developer, you will work alongside a team of more traditional Risk Managers looking to you to help conduct research, automate complicated tasks, drive initiatives to improve Jump's risk layer and/or ability to monitor and evaluate risk and hypothetical scenarios. You will collaborate with the technologists on and adjacent to the team to improve different aspects of the production risk system. This may include other duties as assigned or needed. By improving these core systems that power the group, you will be a multiplier on the productivity of the entire team as the business grows into different markets. The team is looking for someone who will be passionate about development and demonstrates intellectual curiosity and an ability to solve difficult technical problems in a fast-paced and energetic environment. Your drive to learn from the business side of the company and ability to complement those learnings with your technical skills can shape the approach that the team and firm take with regards to risk and empower you to become a key voice and difference maker within organization. Simply put, you will be successful in this role by articulating the technical implementation of our risk system while also grasping the full depth of the trading and business reasons behind it. Skills You'll Need: Excellent communication skills and the ability to work closely with people from a variety of teams across the firm Manage your own priorities and have context-switching ability required to work on several projects at once Proven success working with large data sets Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent programming skills, with the ability to do complex debugging, design work, and problem solving At least 2+ years of python programming experience is required Experience working on a Linux platform Proficient in at least one scripting language Reliable and predictable availability Preferred but not required: Experience in the trading industry Experience working with Django or Flask Experience managing a MySQL (or similar) database(s) Working knowledge of C++ If you are currently a student or recent graduate, please see our Campus postings which offer both intern and full-time opportunities.
