What You'll Do

Be the go-to expert for technical solutions for feature teams.
Mentor senior engineers and technical leads to make sound technical decisions and help build effective engineering practices.
Champion good habits (development techniques, security, tech debt balance, TDD, and agile habits); improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes.
Write Python code focused on scalability, testability, supportability and maintainability. Find and address performance issues throughout the application. Participate in architecture, code, security and operational reviews.
Drive a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement. Identify and introduce new technologies that elevate the platform.

What You'll Bring

Typically, 12+ years of relevant development experience in fast paced environments
Experience driving technical design decisions for highly scalable backend systems
Leadership and mentoring skills and the ability to work with engineers across skill levels
Passionate about building scalable and simple solutions to solve customer problems
Experienced in of one of the following languages: Python (preferred), Node.js, Ruby, Java, Go
Experience with Cloud Platforms such as GCP, AWS, or Azure
Experience with Docker, auto-scaling, serverless infrastructure
Self start with a passion for taking ownership of your work and delivering outcomes
Excellent asynchronous communication skills and ability to work remotely in a high growth organization
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

Job Requirements:
As a Database Engineer, you must be a highly technical, analytical and critical thinker. You need to be capable of working proficiently at both strategic and tactical aspects of a project. It is also important that you have excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally and effectively with all levels of staff. Specific qualifications for the role include: • Bachelor of Science degree, preferably in Computer Science; MIS degree, preferred • Minimum 5 or more years of hands-on experience with MS SQL of various versions, including SQL 2005 and 2008; 6-10 years' experience, preferred • Database designing, database performance, management and tuning experience • Experience with Oracle, Sybase, or SQL Server Database Administration; Java, Perl, and Shell Scripting experience, preferred • Database and Server Performance and Tuning experience; server build-out experience, a plus • Experience leading large multi-resource teams with interdependent initiatives to successful completion • Ability to code complex programs and derive logical processes • Commanding knowledge of current industry database standards such as Web Services, Object Oriented Development • Collaborative development techniques as well as knowledge of Project management discipline within Information Technology field • Strong database design and development experience for very large database applications, preferred • Experience with SSIS and SSRS, preferred • Data Modeling experience (Logical/Physical) preferred • Experience on high transactional systems with 24/7 up times, preferred • Ability to design, code, debug and maintain database schemas & store procedures, preferred • Ability to team up with software engineers and produce maintainable data interface layers within applications, preferred • Ability to develop technical specification and documentation, preferred • SQL Replication experience, a plus
