Description

A large and prestigious financial institution is in the process of looking for a Software Engineer with a background in building microservices in AWS to join a regulatory reporting technology organization. This team is responsible for the applications and large scale systems that report active and past trades to federal regulators. One of the large initiatives for 2021 is to move all of the regulatory applications off the mainframe environment and into AWS. There is a current architect who is involved in designing the AWS environment and there is a separate team responsible for the AWS infrastructure. The Software Engineer that we are hiring will be responsible for understanding how the current applications work within the mainframe environment and create new processes and microservices within AWS to be able to transition all of the regulatory applications. Ideally, we would like a candidate with a background in Python development and has a background in AWS Services (Lambda, S3, etc.) and NoSQL database (Amazon DynamoDB, Cassandra, MongoDB). This individual will be using Python programming to build Lambda functions and we need someone who has a strong background in doing this and strong understanding. It would be ideal if the candidate had built out AWS cloud infrastructure but it is not a requirement. It would also be nice if the candidate had any experience within mainframe or CICD/Jenkins experience. This project is a greenfield project and there is no current environment built in AWS. This gives the candidate the opportunity to help build something from scratch. In the first few weeks, this individual will be asked to understand the AWS process and working with the other AWS teams. Minimum Requirements- 5+ years of Software Engineering, preferably Python- Experience with NoSQL database (DynamoDB, Cassandra, etc.)- Experience developing microservices within AWS - Experience with Lambdas and S3 Desired Skills- Jenkins/ CICD experience- DevOps experience - Mainframe or COBOL/JCL experience
