This new position will be based in either our Jacksonville, FL office or Birmingham, AL office and report to the Director of Digital Architecture.Kemper's P businesses are growing and are focusing on being a leader in personal auto and homeowner insurance. There are multiple major initiatives focused on designing and developing best in class core Systems/Applications. This position will focus on reviewing and establishing enterprise standards for end to end monitoring, alerting, and performance to improve key availability, resiliency and recovery time goals for our critical systems/applications.Position ResponsibilitiesEngagement and code commit responsibility with AppDev and Engineering teams for performance and reliability facetsWork with Architecture to establish application logging standards to enable more effective troubleshooting for issue resolution and identification of root causesWork with Architecture to establish a high standard of Observability across our system to improve understanding and visibility of potential issuesWork with Architecture on creation of APM Dashboards and metric calculations of technical and business KPIs.Work with Architecture to perform ongoing reliability and performance reviews for critical applications/systems and technology stacksPosition Qualifications3+ years of experience in application developmentEducation College degree in computer science or related field, or the equivalent in related work experienceExperience with programming languages and frameworks like Java, Spring, Python etc. is requiredExperience with APM tools & monitoring technologies such as Prometheus, Grafana, AppDynamics, Splunk is a plusWorking knowledge of AWS Cloud, EKS, DevOps, Jenkins, Tomcat, Apache HTTPD, Load Balancers is a plusAbility to code, unit test and debug complex business applications.Ability to dive into the codebase to identify potential issues related to application stability, resiliency or availabilityAbility to troubleshoot problems in the app stack - client side, infrastructure, networking and server sideAbility to manage time, and prioritize multiple projects/activities to deliver timely results.Experience working on large, cross functional teamsKemper is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
