This organization is responsible for developing and supporting real-time embedded software for numerous processing platforms used in our commercial airline avionics products and cockpit display systems.Primary focus will be the development and maintenance of applications that manages our test environment in the lab. These applications are primarily written Python and C#. They enable to end users to effortlessly parse customer input files, configure the test environment (software and hardware), and manage running processes and data flows. Qualified candidates will have experience debugging in a lab environment to determine if an issue's root cause is software or hardware related. They should be able to follow complex tool chains, across multiple applications and interfaces, in order to determine how to inject the desired change.Relocation assistance is available once we return to the site.Primary Responsibilities:Support the design, development, and maintenance of flight-critical embedded software for commercial aviation solutions and avionics productsProvide technical leadership to assigned cross-functional engineering project team responsible for the design, development, and verification of real-time embedded softwareSupport project team activities related to the specification of requirements, software implementation, test case development, verification test execution, and certification supportDevelop, coordinate, and conduct complex tests and debugs systems that contain logical and mathematical solutionsConduct multidisciplinary research and collaborate with systems and hardware architects in the planning, design, development, and utilization of embedded processing systemsMentor software developers in technical and process-related areasDevelop solutions that satisfy numerous avionics industry standards, such as POSIX, ARINC-615A (data load), ARINC-653 (application interface), ARINC-661 (display interface), IEEE 803.2 (ethernet), and ARINC-664 (AFDX)Work with cutting-edge technologies, such as multicore processors, hypervisor systems, and systems-on-a-chipBasic Qualifications:Bachelor's degree (Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) ) and 5 years of prior relevant experience ORAdvanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience ORIn absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is requiredExperience in writing software requirements, software design and implementation, functional and integration testing, writing test cases and test procedures, and software delivery supportEffective and easily-engaged communicatorExcellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with various teamsDemonstrated ability to identify complex problems, evaluate options, and develop solutionsEnergetic and proactive self-starter that builds sound, collaborative relationshipsPython, C/C++Proficiency with modern software development best practices and configuration management toolsStrong background in development of low-level software and concurrent processing solutionsThis position requires a commitment to professional working hours that extend beyond a typical 40 hour work week.Preferred Qualifications:C# programming experienceExperience with DO-178B/C (DAL A or B preferred)Experience with real-time operating systems (VxWorks or LinxOS)Experience with designing architecturesExpertise leading a low-level software development and verification tasksCollins Aerospace, a Raytheon Technologies company, is a leader in technologically advanced and intelligent solutions for the global aerospace and defense industry.
