You will play a key role in building green field cloud native applications in AWS.In this role you will craft, develop, modify, adapt and implement short- and long-term solutions to information technology needs through new and existing applications, systems, databases and applications infrastructure. You will review and interpret system requirements and business processes as well as code, test, debug and implement software solutions. You will also:Support a business-critical analytics platform that is a key part of our fixed income investment processLead small projects and work streams of large projectsBe accountable for your work and sometimes others, provide process and standards advice in your area of specializationWork independently and as a member of a team of engineersServe as a resource for colleagues with less experienceResponsibilities:Build event-driven pipelines using Python, AWS SNS and SQSSource data from GRPC services for your applicationsImplement CI/CD pipelines to deploy code and infrastructure to AWSDevelop APIs and microservices in Python using FastAPIPerform as a domain specialist in one or more parts of the software lifecycle (e.g., coding, testing, deployment). Leads significant pieces of development within the development lifecycleContribute to the development of standard methodologies within your groupLead code reviews and actively participates in providing feedback on others' designs/codeBe accountable for technical debt in your own softwareLead a small project team, as requiredTake control of sophisticated problems and step through them in a rational wayMake tactical vs. strategic trade-offsBe flexible in your thinking; able to evolve a solution when additional information or ideas are presentedMentor junior members of the teamIdentify when junior engineers need help and providing it in a positive way that promotes confidence.Actively helping team members/make suggestions to improve practices.Business KnowledgeAble to work directly with business partnersDecisions show a focus on current and future business priorities, together with fiscal responsibilityCan articulate business needs and translate them into technology solutionsTechnical Requirements:Strong academic record and a BS/MS degree with high mathematical and computing content e.g. Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or PhysicsStrong Python programming experience required8+ years of software engineering experience with 3+ years related to data engineering, microservices, frameworks and/or platform developmentStrong Test-Driven Development and desire to write simple, adaptive and iterative codePreferred qualifications:Experience with other programming languages helpful: Java, Node, C/C++Experience with front end development helpful. JavaScript, React, Redux, Material UIExperience crafting and delivering frameworks that are focused on data pipelines, data catalogs, data distributionKnowledge of one or more relevant database technologies. (e.g. Postgres)Proficient on Linux platforms with knowledge of various scripting languagesProficient with a range of development tools - e.g. Git, Artifactory, Terraform, Jenkins.Experience building containerized applications and deploying to public or private clouds, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or similar providers.Experience with serverless application development with AWS LambdaExperience with algorithms and data structuresExperience with front office software development with an Asset Management, Hedge fund or Investment Bank and a validated understanding of tradable financial instruments (securities, derivatives) and capital markets would be usefulT.
